The Rural Development Association “Mariñas – Betanzos” was established in July 2008 as a Rural Development Group with the purpose of being the integration and representation hub for various territorial, institutional, social, and economic agents, both public and private, interested in promoting the development of the territory.
The Association’s preferred scope of action includes the Municipalities of Abegondo, Aranga, Arteixo, Bergondo, Betanzos, Cambre, Carral, Coirós, Curtis, Culleredo, Miño, Irixoa, Oleiros, Oza-Cesuras, Paderne, Sada, and Sobrado, without prejudice to potential expansion based on operational needs of its programs and activities.
The development strategy conceived by the Association has as its ultimate goal the enhancement of the territory, focusing on improving the quality of life of the local population through the valorization of natural and cultural heritage and the promotion of social cohesion. Since 2013, the Mariñas-Betanzos Rural Development Association has been the managing entity of the Mariñas Coruñesas and Terras do Mandeo Biosphere Reserve.
