In January 2020, the Mariñas Coruñesas Biosphere Reserve became the first certified Ecotourism Destination in Galicia, through the State Ecotourism Club.
The Ecotourism Club in Spain is a pioneering initiative that offers ecotourism experiences in protected natural areas, guaranteeing travelers that their contribution supports local development and biodiversity conservation in the areas they visit and the tourism services they enjoy.
The Ecotourism Club in Spain is managed by the Ecotourism Association in Spain, and its objective is to promote authentic ecotourism destinations, businesses, and experiences, and support their commercialization at national and international levels; as well as provide technical support, guidance, and training to the entities affiliated with the club.
The catering businesses affiliated with the Biosphere Reserve Brand will have direct access to opt for integration into the Ecotourism Club of Spain, following the Reserve’s integration as a state ecotourism destination, which in turn will allow them to apply for the quality distinction of the “Spanish Biosphere Reserves” brand.
The “Mariñas Coruñesas e Terras do Mandeo” Biosphere Reserve applied for membership to the Ecotourism Club of Spain in 2019. In January 2020, the Biosphere Reserve’s membership to the State Ecotourism Club was certified at FITUR.
Within the “Mariñas Coruñesas e Terras do Mandeo” Biosphere Reserve, there is a network of interpretation centers for our Territory. Find more information here:
