1. Restoration of abandoned anthropic infrastructures
In this project, an old abandoned electrical tower was rehabilitated with the aim of functioning as a refuge for wildlife. To achieve this, birdhouses for birds, shelters for chiroptera, and a loft for nocturnal birds of prey were installed.
Currently, the structure is being monitored to evaluate the effectiveness of these measures. So far, the occupation of some birdhouses by tits has been confirmed, along with the presence of bats, and some nocturnal birds of prey that have approached out of curiosity.
2. Support for the banding of European shags (Gulosus aristotelis)
During 2023, the Reserve collaborated with CEIDA and the Spanish Ornithological Society to continue the banding work of the European shag (Gulosus aristotelis) at the Mera lighthouse and on the Costa de Dexo.
