On October 29, 2019, the Ecotourism Association of the Mariñas Coruñesas Biosphere Reserve was established.
The aims of this association are as follows:
- Promotion of a respectful tourism model in a territory declared by UNESCO as a Biosphere Reserve "Mariñas Coruñesas e Terras do Mandeo", with special preference for the ecotourism model.
- To structure the tourism sector and establish a forum for continuous debate on the different issues in the sector.
- To enhance, revalue and preserve the tourist resources of the area, with special dedication to those linked to nature.
- To achieve a dynamic of participation that facilitates the development of an ecotourism model in the territory.
- The promotion and improvement of the conditions of tourism products, as well as their quality.
- To enhance, revalue and preserve natural and cultural resources, especially by recovering historical paths and the Jacobean itineraries of the Camino de Santiago.
- Promote the Biosphere Reserve and the Slow Food philosophy as a Slow Food Community Biosphere Reserve "Mariñas Coruñesas e Terras do Mandeo", within the geographical scope that makes up the Mariñas Coruñesas e Terras do Mandeo Biosphere Reserve.
