The governance and coordination bodies of the Mariñas Coruñesas and Terras do Mandeo Biosphere Reserve [RB-MCTM] are the Board of Directors [CDRB], the Executive Committee [CERB], and the Reserve Manager. The Biosphere Reserve also has a Scientific Committee [CCRB] and a participation body designated as the Participation Committee [CPRB].
GOVERNING COUNCIL OF THE BIOSPHERE RESERVE
It is the collegiate body responsible for directing and managing the “Mariñas Coruñesas” Biosphere Reserve.
Main Functions:
- Promote, develop and approve the Action Plan.
- Analyze economic and social aspects of the Reserve.
- Identify opportunities and define lines of action.
- Monitor the fulfillment of annual objectives.
- Approve actions and budgets.
- Control economic management in accordance with what has been approved.

- President and vice-president of ADR Mariñas-Betanzos.
- Representatives of the municipalities included in the Reserve.
- Eight representatives from local social and economic entities.
- Four representatives from the Xunta de Galicia (areas such as nature, territory, agriculture, and fishing).
- Four representatives from the Provincial Council of A Coruña.
- Representatives from the Mariñas Consortium, Ministry with competence in coastal areas, custodial entities, Scientific Committee, Spanish M&B Committee, and Participation Committee.
- The Reserve manager.

- Execute the Management Plan actions approved by the Board of Directors.

- Propose new actions and strategies to the Board of Directors.
- Promote volunteering and invigorate the socio-economic fabric of the territory.
- Assume functions delegated by the Board of Directors.

BIOSPHERE RESERVE MANAGER
Single-person body that assumes the ordinary management of the Reserve, as well as its representation before the Spanish Network of Biosphere Reserves.
BIOSPHERE RESERVE SCIENTIFIC COMMITTEE
It is an advisory body that counsels the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee, providing analysis and information to support decision-making and evaluation of the Reserve’s objectives fulfillment.
Main Functions:
- Identify research activities relevant to the Reserve.
- Propose funding sources for these activities.
- Develop, monitor, and evaluate research and experimentation.
- Advise on the development and execution of Action Plans.
- Propose or conduct studies aligned with Conservation, Sustainable Development, and Environmental Education.
Composition:
- Formed by specialists proposed by the Board of Directors or by Galician entities with R activity.
- Members must be individuals of recognized expertise, linked to universities, research centers, or scientific entities related to the Reserve's objectives.
- Their inclusion must be approved by the Board of Directors and authorized by the entity to which the member belongs.
- No financial compensation is received for participation.
Internal Structure:
The Committee is organized into three major areas, each with a coordinator appointed by the Board of Directors:
- Conservation Area: composed of specialists in Biodiversity, Land Stewardship, Water, Forests, Marine and Coastal Environment, Landscape, and Geology, among others considered of interest.
- Sustainable Development Area, composed of specialists in Land Use Planning and Infrastructure, Agriculture, Livestock and Forest Management, Fishing and Shellfish, Tourism, Economics and Local Development, Renewable Energy, Sustainability and Waste, among others considered of interest.
- Logistical Support Area, composed of specialists in Research and Observation, Training and Capacity Building, Environmental Education and Communication, among others considered of interest.

The Participation Committee is an advisory body whose main objective is to ensure participatory management of the Biosphere Reserve, promoting active involvement of civil society in decision-making and achieving territorial objectives.
Main Functions:
- Ensure local stakeholders' participation in management and sustainable development.
- Be a forum for debate and facilitate dialogue between the population and administrations.
- Participate in the development and execution of Action Plans.
- To promote volunteering and stimulate the socioeconomic fabric.
- Monitor the fulfillment of annual objectives.
- Collect and convey proposals to improve Reserve management.
- Supervise the development of executed actions.
