Tourism Sustainability Plan for Mariñas Coruñesas

The Tourism Sustainability Plan (PSTD) proposed by the Mariñas Coruñesas Biosphere Reserve presents objectives aimed at transforming and improving the resilience of this UNESCO-recognized territory, comprising 17 municipalities, as an international reference in family-oriented Ecotourism, with nature-based and carbon-neutral products.
This Plan is structured around four fundamental axes: green and sustainable transition, improvement of energy efficiency, digital transition, and competitiveness.

Green and Sustainable Transition.

Identification of abandoned waste in the coastal area of Mariñas Coruñesas and study to find new uses or ways to reuse it.

Promote circular economy (water management, waste, urban furniture, noise, or lighting)

Transformation of tourism infrastructure and improvement of territorial internal cohesion.

Improvement of Energy Efficiency.

Reduction and mitigation of the destination’s carbon footprint.

Installation of electric charging points in each of the municipalities of the Mariñas Coruñesas Biosphere Reserve.

Improvement of connectivity and recovery of Traditional and Ecotourism Trails.

Digital Transition.

Training in digital tools and management platforms.

Creation of a Digital Platform for citizen participation and incident reporting.

Competitiveness.

Adaptation of facilities and improvement of tourist accessibility in places such as the Betanzos and O Burgo estuaries.

Enhancement of the tourist appeal of the Biosphere Markets.
